Review: SUICIDE SQUAD

By Renee’ Collins

Rating: 4 (Out of 5 Reels)

A secret government agency recruits imprisoned supervillains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency (IMDB).

Apparently, characters in the Suicide Squad comic world are vast and varied.  Having never read a comic from this DC Comic world made the onslaught of characters a bit much in the beginning.  The main set of characters are introduced with enough background information to know what makes them tick and what abilities they have.  While all the actors perform well Jason Leto as The Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn definitely stand out, most especially Leto.

The special effects in this film are well done but the film drags on and the ending is extremely predictable. There is absolutely no reason why the DC character world shouldn’t cash in on its varied characters just like Marvel has done.  Stay after the credits because there is an extra scene teasing another film release in the future.  All in all, this film is entertaining and worth seeing on the big screen.
