During an adventure into a dark criminal underworld, Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) meets his future copilot Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) and encounters Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) years before joining the Rebellion (IMDB).
I must start by saying I am a total science fiction junkie therefore I was looking forward to this film just like I was Rogue One: A Star War Story because when done well I don’t mind seeing any of these films. I somewhat enjoyed the prequels but they are definitely not my favorite and I do not go out of my way to watch them when they are on cable. I prefer to take any film I see at face value and enjoy the ride as much as I can and hope they don’t go down the wrong road along the way.
This film is a wonderful fun ride from beginning to end. We finally know how Chewbacca and Han meet. We see how Lando Calrissian and Han Solo meet and how Han won the Millennium Falcon which is referenced in the other films. There are also a few other notable beginnings here along with some very strong women characters which I welcome and find interesting. Most notable Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke) as Hans friend/love interest because she has the most depth and character growth in this film.
The computer generated effects are spectacular as expected. Special effects done right add to the depth of a film and they spared no expense here. This is a must see if you are any kind of Star Wars fan because it answers questions we have all had for years after seeing the previous films. And, it must be seen on the big screen because it is more impactful for the viewer. Director, Ron Howard has another blockbuster on his hands because he does an excellent job with this film.
