While on vacation on the Nile, Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh) must investigate the murder of heiress Linnet Ridgeway (Gal Gadot) (IMDB).
Branagh has made another great film. He has become a master of the visual aspects of film making but also of directing actors to give their best performance. Everything from the music, sets, and acting here are great to see. I also love that Branagh shoots scenes from angles that others would not. For example, there is a scene where the camera is seemingly on the floor directly in front of the actor looking up. It is not an angle normally used and worked well.
The acting in this film is done well because everyone seems to have a “face” or front they are trying to exude but you know there is much more going on under their façade. It definitely keeps the viewer guessing who will be revealed as the killer. I truly enjoy how Poirot gets to know each person by observing and during the interview process while trying to find the killer. If you like murder mystery films then this is definitely one you should see. I was reminded how much I truly enjoy getting lost in a film and this one was a great start to getting back to “normal”.
