If you quickly search for the short film Special Delivery on the internet, you will find various films with the title. Still, the one screening at the Austin Film Festival is the short romantic comedy from writer/director Emily Everhard. The film was a finalist for the Enderby Entertainment Fellowship Award, and today’s news from the Austin Film Festival is that the film has won the jury award.
The short romantic comedy features foley artist Sandy (Kate Owens, “The Other Black Girl” TV series), and the male adult star of the movie, Tad (Rob Kellogg, FBI (2018), Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin (2022) and Uncoupled (2022).
In corresponding with the writer/director Everhard, she describes the following: “The film is about a foley artist for pornography who falls in love with a porn star during an ADR session.” In viewing the film, Sandy can be seen conducting her work with various tools to enhance the sound of the two characters in the film. Yes, “a film,” she clearly states to her boss on the phone, and not “a video,” as he refers to work. Judging from the dialogue with the boss, Sandy has likely felt her work has not been valued very much. It takes little time for Sandy and Tad to make their sounds during the session.
Everhard also stated, “We previously screened at Oscar-qualifying festivals, including Palm Springs, Hollyshorts, Nashville, Bendfilm, and more.” World Premiere: psfilmfest.org
The next available screening at the festival is Thursday, October 30th, in Shorts Program 7—Anatomy of Love, which begins at 3:50 pm—5:46 pm at the Galaxy Theater, 6700 Middle Fiskville Rd.
