About the Film: Land of Gold is a story of hope and finding family in the most unexpected places; A universal story uniquely told from 2 first-generation perspectives. When truck driver Kiran hears pounding on a shipping container and sees a young Mexican American girl inside, his tumultuous life drastically turns as he seeks to reunite her with her family.
The film’s World Premiere was at the Tribeca Film Festival in June 2022, and it won the Honorable Mention Jury Award at the 2022 June Bentonville Film Festival.
I viewed the film virtually last summer as part of the Bentonville Film Festival, and it was a fascinating film created by writer/director Nardeep Khurmi (Dance Dads), who also stars as Kiran. I found it entertaining, with the excellent script, engaging performances, and good action when there are dramatic and tense scenes. Caroline Valencia (“Only Murders in the Building” and Zoolander 2) stars as Elena and is an excellent talent to keep an eye on for future work that is now in post-production.
The dramatic story of immigration will be shown during the Cine las Americas Film Festival on June 11th at the AFS Cinema (2:30 pm). For more information, https://cinelasamericas.org/events/landofgold
