Movie News: Austin Based Artist Miguel St. Michael’s Film Among the aGLIFF Film Festival Shorts

Austin’s oldest film festival and premiere LGBTQ+ film fest of the Southwest, aGLIFF’s 37th annual festival PRISM 37, took place in-person August 21–25, 2024, in Austin, TX. This year’s lineup boasted over twenty feature films from eight countries, including four U.S. premieres, two retrospective screenings, a short film showcase, and a World Premiere for the festival’s closing night.

Among the official selections of the short films is Miguel St. Michael’s music video, “Guapito, Divino,” which was screened at the Galaxy Theatre, one of many venues where films were available to the public. It is a cumbia short film music video directed by Michael St. Michael.

“Guapito, Divino”was awarded the Audience Choice Award for Best Music Video at the Latino Film Market Festival in New York City earlier this summer.

In the Spring, “Guapito, Divino” won the Best Music Video at the Texas Short Film Festival (March). “Guapito, Divino” was also screened at the Cine Las Americas International Film Festival in May.

Miguel St. Michael released his debut solo album “Entre Luces” earlier in 2014 and is available on all streaming platforms. Miguel St. Michael has performed various shows in Austin and Texas in general. Still, on Sunday, August 25th, he performed a solo set in Atlanta, GA, at the Barrio Fiesta powered by La Choloteca! This performance was his first out-of-state show since launching his solo project.
