Synopsis: An underachiever comes up with an outlandish plan to avoid alimony obligations to his fashion executive ex-wife. (IMDb)
Asian Persuasion tells the story of a lovable underachiever who hatches a hilarious and outrageous scheme to avoid paying alimony to his fashion executive ex-wife. The film combines humor, drama, and romance. Rom-com fans will undoubtedly enjoy this story, and it has good humor that is not slapstick, but it offers good scenes of how the scheme has some positive points and was not the best idea. A little too late, Mickey sees the effect this has on others, especially Avery. Too little, too late, Mickey realizes just what he lost in his relationship with Avery. Sometimes, it takes some growth and major changes if there is to be a second chance with the one you love. Although the script has a familiar theme, the large cast gives enjoyable performances for each of the characters who have a role in this couple’s relationship.
The film is produced by Jhett Tolentino Productions, with Tolentino and Mike Ang serving as Producers. Cinematography is by Andrea Walter (“The Fabulous Filipino Brothers,” “Empty by Design”), and production and costume design is done by Dedalus Moving Pictures’ Sheena Alexis (“Caretakers”). The music score is by Eunike Tanzil (“Be Somebody”), and the casting is by Bess Fifer.
ASIAN PERSUASION World premiered at the 14th SOHO International Film Festival in New York City, where it won the Audience Award, and went on to screen at the Richmond International Film Festival and served as the Closing Night film at the San Diego Filipino Film Festival.
