When a mercenary group takes a lavish wedding hostage, they have no idea what they’re in for, as the maid of honor, Sam (Rebel Wilson), is a secret agent ready to rain hellfire upon anyone who would ruin her best friend’s wedding (IMDb).
I thought this film would be ridiculous, but since I genuinely laughed a couple of times while watching the trailer, I decided to give it a chance, and I wish I hadn’t. Wilson delivers a convincing performance as Sam, a secret agent fighting the bad guys, but the writing is absurd and cliché. The characters are shallow and often say the most ridiculous things.
I am sure teenagers will love this film, but it is not worth the time and cost of seeing it in a movie theater. If you must, watch it on a streaming platform you already have so that it won’t cost you anything extra. There is nothing worthwhile to see here unless you’re only interested in a bit of eye candy, like Justin Hartley without a shirt, which only lasts for a few seconds. And very few genuine laughs.
