Secret Service Agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) is framed for the attempted assassination of the President and must evade his own agency and the FBI as he tries to uncover the real threat (IMDB).
Banning is back to protect the President no matter what obstacles are put into place. This is exactly what we saw in the first two installments (Olympus Has Fallen & London Has Fallen) and there is nothing new here in that regard.
I figured out the entire plot line and who did what in the first few minutes of the film. However, what kept me mostly engaged was the writing and the visual effects. There are several one-liners that made me laugh which is rare these days because most films are stupid funny and not smart funny. In some glaring places, science is completely ignored but if you can look past that this film is entertaining and fun ride.
This film is extremely well made and the drone scene is my favorite. Apparently, the drone technology used in this film exists in real life which is comforting and scary at the same time because it can be used toward good and bad outcomes depending upon one’s perspective.
Butler has definitely defined a specific genre of film he is best suited for and now can carry an entire film. This film is good overall but I wouldn’t pay full price to see it on the big screen.
