Four lifelong friends, Diane (Diane Keaton), Vivian (Jane Fonda), Sharon (Candice Bergen) and Carol (Mary Steenburgen) have their lives forever changed after reading 50 Shades of Grey in their monthly book club (IMDB).
Imagine what happens when four middle aged women who are part of a book club read 50 Shades of Grey and subsequently find their love lives wanting. Exactly what you think happens, one struggles for intimacy in her decades long marriage, two shield themselves from intimacy because they are afraid to get hurt and the fourth is so wrapped up in continuing to raise her adult kids that she cannot believe her life could include anything else.
I have enjoyed work from all four of these powerhouse actresses in the past. Unfortunately, I found this film extremely shallow because most of the jokes and definitely the plot lines have been done so many times that I figured them out in the first few minutes of the film and found myself bored for them to finally get to the point. I enjoyed only a few genuinely funny jokes throughout this film and just wanted it to end. To my consternation, at the end of this film the audience actually clapped. I guess most people just want to see the same old thing over and over again, I for one do not.
