A young programmer, Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson), is selected to participate in a breakthrough experiment in artificial intelligence by evaluating the human qualities of a breathtaking female A.I., Ava (Alicia Vikander) (IMDB).
What is the total and complete fascination with the human need to create computers that think and act like humans? Based on our track record one might think it not a direction to take things. Even though this plotline has been done a myriad of times this one takes it to a different level. Believe it or not nothing blows up, is shot, has any ridiculous chase scenes and is not a testosterone fest however it is one of the most intelligently made and written films.
Whatever computer generated method they used to create Ava’s robotic body is sheer genius and is stunning beautiful. But the overall genius here is how well this film is written and acted. The interaction between Caleb and Ava is spectacular because the viewer is taken on a roller coaster ride watching them discover the depths of programmable humanity, good and/or bad.
Any fan of science fiction dramatic films should see this film because it will have you thinking about the human plight long after leaving the theater.
