When Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) discovers Toothless is not the only Night Fury, he must seek “The Hidden World”, a secret Dragon Utopia before a hired tyrant named Grimmel (F. Murray Abraham) finds it first (IMDB).
Having truly enjoyed seeing the first two films in this franchise, I was very much looking forward to seeing this film. All of the usual characters are back including a new villain and to everyone’s surprise, a female dragon called a Light Fury.
What I truly like about these films is not only the spectacular computer animation but also the depth of the characters. Falling for Hiccup and Toothless is near impossible because we see them grow to love and care deeply for each other. Expect silliness from some of Hiccup’s comrades for the younger crowd but thankfully, there is not too much.
I actually wish this one had 3D animation like one of the previous films, especially during certain dragon scenes because it would have made this film even better. As a whole, the plotline is simple and extremely well written, the acting is great and the computer animation is spectacular. I would recommend it to anyone including those young at heart.
