Review: JASON BOURNE

By Renee’ Collins

Rating: 3 (Out of 5 Reels)

Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) dodges a ruthless CIA official (Tommy Lee Jones) and his agents from a new assassination program while searching for the origins of his life as a trained killer (IMDB).

This is the fifth installment of the Jason Bourne series spanning fourteen years.  All but one has starred Matt Damon in the title role.  Damon is well suited for this type of film and does another excellent job here as the aging Bourne.  Jones as CIA Director Robert Dewey is an interesting addition as he can play just about any role convincingly.  The last couple installments had way too much steady cam shaking action scenes which is jarring and nauseating but here they have definitely reigned it in which is a good thing.

This film is extremely well made because the action scenes are expertly choreographed but there is nothing new to see here. Most people, not unlike this reviewer, are growing tired of this franchise because they are not bringing anything new to the table.
