Review: MAD MAX FURY ROAD

Rating: 4.0 (Out of 5 Reels)

In a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, two rebels just might be able to restore order: Max (Tom Hardy), a man of action and of few words, and Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a woman of action who is looking to make it back to her childhood homeland (IMDB).

The poignant word to describe this film is intense because it is a non-stop ride from beginning to end.  Standing still rarely occurs because everyone is careening on some kind of vehicle in the desert trying to get away from or catch someone.  Theron is a complete and total badass who does whatever she must to accomplish her mission.  Inadvertently, Max comes along just trying to stay alive and in a way their plights become the same.

This film is definitely not for the kiddos because it is a non-stop killing fest and not for the faint of heart.  However, the gore is accomplished in a more meaningful way because of the way in which it is shot.  Gore for gore’s sake is not what most want but here it is not too gruesomely overt which this reviewer appreciates.

Most might not know that George Miller wrote and directed the three original Mad Max movies (Mad Max, 1979; Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, 1981 and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, 1985) as well as this reboot.  Miller obviously still has it because this film is a fantastic ride from beginning to end.
