The true story of a British whistle-blower, Katharine Gun (Keira Knightley), who leaked information to the press about an illegal NSA spy operation designed to push the UN Security Council into sanctioning the 2003 invasion of Iraq (IMDB).
This film is extremely well made and written. Knightly delivers an even keel but powerful performance as Gun. We see her transform from an angry governmental employee who decides to act who turns into a seemingly cornered animal because she is crippled by fear of what will happen to her and her immigrant husband.
There is a who’s who of great British actors in this film (Matthew Goode, Ralph Fiennes, Matt Smith and Rhys Ifans) and their performances add to the drama and depth of this film.
After all of the angst and drama this film ends up in court with a surprising twist. This film is eye opening and should not be missed.
