Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man (Tom Holland) must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever (IMDB).
Jon Watts is back directing this latest Spider-man installment and I for one am glad because this film is not only as good as Spider-man: Homecoming but I think it is better. This film is an absolute fantastic ride from beginning to end. The writing, acting and special effects are, as expected, spectacular.
All of the usual characters are back including Parker’s high school classmates. What makes these films work is the depth of not only the Spider-man character but the supporting cast as well. You care about what happens to them and that draws you into this film. The same is true in the Homecoming film.
I cannot say enough about Jake Gyllenhaal’s role as Quentin Beck/Mysterio because it is genius because he is a great actor and the writing is fantastic. All is not what it seems in the beginning and I love where this story takes things in the end.
I for one cannot wait for the next installment of this franchise and sincerely hope that Watts returns as the director. Even more important will be the return of the screen writing team, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, because they are a big part of what makes these two latest films truly spectacular.
