Last December 31, I posted a “Work in Progress” list of best films for 2017. As a DIY film critic, I don’t have as much access to some of the film contenders, and I just simply didn’t have enough time during the year to watch every single movie released. Now that Oscar weekend has arrived, and we have entered the third month of 2018, I had more time watch more films and reflect who my choices would be for some of the accolades awarded for achievements in acting and filmmaking.
So without any more unnecessary build-up, here are my choices for the the top twenty-five movies of 2017, along with some honorable mentions and my picks for more specific accolades.

The 90th Annual Academy Awards will take place this Sunday, March 4 and will air live on ABC at 7:00 p.m. CST. Television personality Jimmy Kimmel will host.
