A Great Awakening (Available on EST & PVOD May 5, 2026)

SYNOPSIS: From Sight & Sound Films comes the true story of an unlikely friendship: Reverend George Whitefield and Benjamin Franklin. Their bond plays a defining role in the American Revolution. The colonies are on the brink of collapse. Rev. Whitefield’s thunderous sermons ignite the first Great Awakening, uniting a generation with his message of liberty. Franklin, a religious skeptic, is struck by Whitefield’s power to rouse people to freedom. He prints the reverend’s sermons in The Pennsylvania Gazette, awakening liberty in Americans’ hearts.

Director: Joshua Enck Writers: Jeff Bender, Jonathan Blair, Joshua Enck

Cast: John Paul Sneed, Jonathan Blair, among others

This film was available in the Austin Regal Cinemas in April and is an interesting combination of history (Benjamin Franklin), religion (Reverend George Whitefield), and drama. It was more enjoyable than I had anticipated. Rated PG -13
