Two years later, producers Ant Timpson and Tim League have returned with another anthology of horrific ways to die. Twenty-six directors have been assigned a letter of the alphabet and must come up with a title that defines a method of death. The great thing about these anthologies is that if one segment falls short and fails to deliver a satisfying chapter, there are plenty of others to pick up the slack. This time around Timpson and League have assembled such talents as E.L. Katz, Alejandro Bruges, Larry Fessenden, Bill Plympton, Jen and Sylvia Soska, and many more for another twenty-six ways to die.
Because these anthologies are such a mixed bag of shorts, I probably liked this collection just as much as the first one. As I indicated above, some segments satisfy more than others. Nevertheless, this journey through the alphabet makes for a gruesomely fun and entertaining 125 minutes. For non-fans of horror, it would be best to stay away, but for the genre’s most ardent fans, I would strongly recommend this anthology over the latest V/H/S installment.
