An American Ambassador (Matt Letscher) is killed during an attack at a U.S. compound in Libya as a security team struggles to make sense out of the chaos (IMDB).
What we have here is another story given the ultimate testosterone fest treatment by Michael Bay. Don’t get me wrong this movie critic has seen most of his films and has been for the most part entertained. However, some of his shtick is getting a bit tired. Bay is best at adding the dramatic flair with slow motion sequences which include billowing fabric/flags/etc. throughout his films. He delivers more of the same here.
Fortunately, the cast here does a great job portraying the former military security team and we definitely get the back story on why each of them is there and how much they just want to get back to their families. Unfortunately, Bay drags this one out much too long at almost two and a half hours.
This film is beautifully made and definitely looks like a Michael Bay film which probably meant that no expense was spared. The heartfelt stories from each soldier are what draw the viewer into this film. By the end of the film everyone is rooting for everyone to make it out alive.
