Astronaut Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) undertakes a mission across an unforgiving solar system to uncover the truth about his missing father (Tommy Lee Jones) and his doomed expedition that now, 30 years later, threatens the universe (IMDB).

This is a spectacularly written, made and acted film. It is visually stunning with some of the best space scenes I have seen in film. I especially enjoyed the scene on the moon when “pirates” try to steal resources from the military as they escorted Roy to another complex. I have never seen that in a movie and it was quite unexpected.

This film will become another one of my all-time favorite science fiction films. Pitt is the perfect choice for the role of Roy because his portrayal was nuanced and complex. Throughout the entire film Roy is subjected to psychological testing to ensure he is fit for space travel. We watch him remain calm in every situation no matter what the circumstances which makes him an ideal astronaut. However, circumstances change and it is interesting to watch what unfolds.

I would absolutely positively recommend this film to any fan of the science-fiction genre. It is a must see.
