Review: JUPITER ASCENDING

Rating: 3 (Out of 5 Reels)

In a bright and colorful future, a young destitute caretaker gets targeted by a ruthless son of a powerful family that live on a planet in need of a new heir, so she travels with a genetically engineered warrior to the planet in order to stop his tyrant reign (IMDB).

Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) is a run of the mill earthling who works with her family as a house cleaner to help her family survive who hates her job and life.  The next thing she knows people are trying to kill her and a warrior, Caine Wise (Channing Tatum), comes to her rescue.  Then she discovers who she really is and spends the remainder of the film trying to understand what that means and begins to realize that her life will probably never be the same again.

Although the special effects and costumes are stunning some may find this film falls flat because there is not enough character development overall.   This film is sure to make millions and will be well liked by the younger crowd but most will find it to be mediocre at best.  Science fiction junkies will be drawn to see this film but save some money and go to a matinee.
