Review: MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT

Rating: 3 (Out of 5 Reels)

Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team, along with some familiar allies, race against time after a mission gone wrong (IMDB).

The usual IMF good guys are back; Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg), Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames), Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson) and Alan Hunley (Alec Baldwin).  Plus, a couple of new faces to this genre, August Walker (Henry Cavill) and Erica Sloan (Angela Bassett).  All are great actors and make this film a fun ride.

The problem with this genre is that there is nothing new here.  Yet again, Ethan and his team must race to save the world against the bad guys.  They are at the point in this genre where there are no new plot lines so they will just add in more ridiculous action and jaw dropping near death experiences over and over again. It is getting old and I for one am quite tired of it.  It’s not unlike the Spiderman series of films, how many times are you going to tell the same story over and over again? Only recently did they finally make a film about what happens to Spiderman after he becomes Spiderman, genius.

They spared no expense making this film because it is visually stunning and the action sequences are spectacular.  A big help to this film was hiring J.J. Abrams to help as producer.  Another big problem is the length, at two and a half hours it is butt numbing long.  If you want to see this film on the big screen save some money and catch a matinee.
