Review: OCEAN’S 8

Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) gathers an all-female crew to attempt an impossible heist at New York City’s yearly Met Gala (IMDB).

Debbie is estranged sister of Danny Ocean (George Clooney) who was the ring master in the other Ocean’s films with Brad Pitt. While in prison, Debbie devises a plan to pull off the heist of the century. Her first action is to assemble the perfect all-female crew: Lou (Kate Blanchett), Rose (Helena Bonham Carter), Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway), Nine Ball (Rihanna), Tammy (Sarah Paulson), Amita (Mindy Kaling), and Constance (Awkwafina). Sure, they encounter a few hiccups along the way and it is fun to watch how they deal with them as they arise.

This film is visually stylized down to the slick band of characters who decide to attempt a heist. It is witty, funny and well written because the twist at the end is unexpected. I must say Bullock and Blanchett make fantastic ring leaders of the group. Writer and director Gary Ross is a good fit for this film.

This film is a fun and entertaining ride. If you liked the other Ocean’s film then you will like this one as well.
