Review: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES

Rating: 4 (Out of 5 Reels)

Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds the winds of ill fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him (IMDB).

Henry Turner (Brenton Thwaites) and Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario) are new comers and an excellent addition to the franchise who round out the group who are desperately searching for the Trident of Poseidon.

To say the visual effects in this film are spectacular is an understatement. I have heard it said that at some point viewers would not see an appreciable difference from the computer generated actor and the real thing. Well, we see that perfection here during the flash back scenes of Sparrow as a young aspiring Captain. The CGI effects are flawless and are astounding to witness because they look so real.

I honestly did not know what to expect from this fifth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean film series because the last three were not cinematic feats by any means. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the solid plotline and effects of this film. Sure, there are a few elements of the utter ridiculousness as in the other installments but overall this film is well worth the look.
