Review: STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

By Renee’ C.

Rating: 4.5 (Out of 5 Reels)

Having taken her first steps into the Jedi world, Rey (Daisy Ridley) joins Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) on an adventure with Leia (Carrie Fisher), Finn (John Boyega) and Poe (Oscar Isaac) that unlocks mysteries of the Force and secrets of the past (IMDB).

To say that I am a science-fiction junkie is an understatement. I have loved this genre of films since I was very young. I have seen every Star Wars film and was waiting with a heightened anticipation for this installment. That anticipation was because the last two films in this franchise have been absolutely fantastic. I am not afraid to admit that I believe these films are better because George Lucas was not involved.

This latest installment provides conclusions to several unanswered questions presented throughout the more recent films in this franchise. It is wonderful to watch our favorite characters written so well because they grow as individuals while discovering their plight.

The special effects, as expected, are stunning as we have seen in the past. I love the more recent films because they use more real-life sets and props in order to be more realistic and not just all computer generated. This approach also adds to the depth of the film visually.

The only negative thing I have to say about this film are a couple of superfluous side characters that I don’t believe needed to be included due to the length of this film. However, I can only imagine they were added for marketing purposes, especially for the kids.

This film is a fun ride from beginning to end and must be seen on the large screen. I usually don’t say this, but I would recommend paying a bit more money and seeing it at the local IMAX theater. I anxiously look forward to the next installment. I hear there is a Han Solo film in the works.
