I enjoyed the first Thor film and looked forward to seeing the latest installment. It doesn’t hurt to have so much eye candy on all levels.  Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all (IMDB).

I looked forward to seeing the usual cast of characters, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), and Loki (Tom Hiddleston).   They all do a great job in their respective roles again, as well as the other supporting actors in this film.  I especially enjoyed Stellan Skarsgard’s portrayal of Erik Selvig because he goes a tad bit crazy and streaks around Stonehenge while scaring tourists.   As a whole, the characters are the same, good being good and bad being bad.  Although, in this case just when I was about to write the entire thing off for being too boring and formulaic, they provided a twist that pulled me right back in to the story again.  I also noted the presence of Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the head bad dude in this film because I enjoyed his stint as Dr. Who several years ago.

To say the special effects in this film are good is not a stretch and it is in 3D which in this case I didn’t mind too much because it does add to the overall look and feel of the movie experience.  There are some interesting plot twists in this film that as one might expect leave it wide open for another movie and believe it or not, I would like to see more of these characters.  Overall I did enjoy this film and would recommend it to anyone who has enjoyed the first film as well as the other Avenger character movies.
