Reviews: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

Initially I wanted to see this film because my nephew wanted to see it and the screening was the day after his birthday so I really wanted to take him.  Peter Parker runs the gauntlet as the mysterious company Oscorp sends up a slew of super-villains against him, impacting on his life (IMDB).

Sure this film visually is spectacular because as one might expect no expense was spared and those effects alone add to the overall experience of this film.  Plus the choice of Emma Stone to portray Gwen Stacy was a brilliant stroke because she is an amazing actor check out the film The Help if you have any doubt.   Then we have Andrew Garfield returning as Spider-Man/Peter Parker who did well in the first film and delivers here as well.  Finally, we have Jamie Foxx as Electro/Max Dillion and Dane DeHaan as Green Goblin/Harry Osborn who round out the main cast as villains.  Both Foxx and DeHaan also give decent villainous performances.

The problem I have with this film is that we didn’t need another revision of the Spider-Man story.  I for one am sick and tired of this story and am really not interested in seeing another.  Although writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci deviated from the original story in some ways it is still the same old story of Spider-Man fighting new and improved super-villains and it is getting boring.  I am absolutely sure this latest rendition will make millions and will most likely pave the way to yet another film because as we all know cash is king in Hollywood but I for one wish they would let it go.  I would think there are many other Marvel comic stories and heroes that need to be brought to the forefront for something new.  If seeing the same story again with a few twists here and there is what the moviegoer is looking for then by all means go ahead but I am going to hope for something new.
