SXSW News: The Strangers Chapter 1 – Characters Appeared in Austin Venues

Although the Lionsgate feature film, The Strangers Chapter 1, was not screened during the festival, the film’s characters appeared in Austin in various venues. Lionsgate provided photos of the characters posing in front of the Austin postcard mural, The Glass Coffin, the Museum of the Weird, and The Driskill Hotel. They sent their “Greetings from Austin” for the first time while in the city during SXSW.

Directed by Renny Harlin from a screenplay by Alan R. Cohen & Alan Freedland based on The Strangers written by Bryan Bertino, the film stars Madelaine Petsch, Froy Gutierrez, Gabriel Basso, and Ema Horvath.

SYNOPSIS

After their car breaks down in an eerie small town, a young couple (Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez) are forced to spend the night in a remote cabin. Panic ensues as they are terrorized by three masked strangers who strike with no mercy and seemingly no motive in THE STRANGERS ― CHAPTER 1, the chilling first entry of this upcoming horror feature film series.
