THE LITTLE MERMAID

A young mermaid (Halle Bailey) makes a deal with a sea witch (Melissa McCarthy) to trade her beautiful voice for human legs so she can discover the world above water and impress a prince (Jonah Hauer-King) (IMDB).

Some people are tired of seeing these remakes, but this youngster will never feel that way regarding Disney films. I looked forward to seeing Disney’s reboot of this beloved animated film. I am happy to see these stories remade using the most recent technology. I wish these effects existed when I was younger.

Halle Baily and Jonah Hauer-King are excellent choices because they are both fantastic singers. But, by far, the best is Melissa McCarthy’s performance as Ursula, the sea witch. It has to be the perfect part for her to portray because it plays to her strengths of acting and vocal talents.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the amount of humor in this film because it worked on all levels. The visual effects are stunning, as expected. However, the singing in this film is better than in the original. There are also a few new songs that help this film as well.

This film is a lot of family fun that is at its best by watching it on the big screen.
