The Paramount Summer Classic Film Series began the latter part of last month featuring some great classic film. This week, there will be a celebration of the 20th Anniversary screening of “Selena” on Tuesday, June 20th. This screening is complete with a “Anything for Selenas” Happy Hour from 6-7PM featuring music by the Austin based Selena Tribute band, Bidi Bidi Banda and Home Slice Pizza (while supplies lasts). You can also take your photo with a life sized Selena window cling prior to the screening at 7PM. Bustiers encouraged! Plus, it’s a $2 Tuesday: Enjoy $2 Lone Star beers and sodas
Directed by Gregory Nava, the 35mm film stars Jennifer Lopez in the title role, as well as a cast of many, including Jackie Guerra, Jon Seda, and Edward James Olmos in the role of Selena’s father.
Though her life was tragically cut short at the age of 23, Tejano music sensation Selena left a legacy defined by the pure joy of her stage presence and musicianship. In this poignant film, Jennifer Lopez, on the cusp of stardom herself, captures the generosity of spirit and raw talent that defined Selena’s all-too-short career.
Aside from the screening on Tuesday, June 20th at 7pm, the film will be offered on Wednesday, June 21st at 9:20pm.
