Review: OBLIVION

By Renee’ Collins Rating: 4.5 (Out of 5 Reels) To be honest I was not at all sure what to expect from this film because I thought it was going to be another Tom Cruise testosterone fest but I was pleasantly surprised.  A veteran, Jack (Tom Cruise) assigned to extract Earth’s remaining resources begins to… Continue reading Review: OBLIVION

Review: TRANCE

By Renee’ Collins Rating: 4 (Out of 5 Reels) This film is a complete roller coaster ride from beginning to end. An art auctioneer, Simon (James McAvoy), becomes mixed up with a group of criminal partners and a hypnotherapist, Elizabeth (Rosario Dawson) in order to recover a lost painting.

2013 SXSW Review: DON JON

By Renee’ Collins Rating: 5 (Out of 5 Reels) I have enjoyed previous work by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his writing and directorial debut Don Jon will be high on my list of favorites. 2013 SXSW Guest Review: EVERYONE’S GOING TO DIE

By Jan Hamilton Rating: A+ Even though the title suggests a slasher film, nothing could be further from the truth. A delightfully quirky British indie, this film is a real gem. Two adrift people meet and wander the streets of English coastal city. Funny, serious and completely entertaining, this is a real find, highly recommended.

Set in post wildfire Bastrop, the landscape is surprisingly… Continue reading 2013 SXSW Guest Review: PRINCE AVALANCHE

2013 SXSW Guest Review: WHEN ANGELS SING

By Jan Hamilton Rating: C+ Featuring some of the biggest names in Texas music, this overly sweet film is full of warm feelings and family values. Harry Connick Jr plays a UT professor with a lovely wife and great son. His one problem is that, because of a childhood tragedy, he won’t celebrate Christmas. What… Continue reading 2013 SXSW Guest Review: WHEN ANGELS SING
