FIGHT OR FLIGHT Is A Wild Ride.

If you like insane action ridiculousness, then Fight or Flight is your kind of movie. I happened to catch the trailer to this crazy movie before watching another film in a theater. After that, I knew that I had to watch it. The trailer made the film look like a great time, so I knew this movie would be my jam. And for the most part, this film did not disappoint.

Josh Hartnett stars as Lucas Reyes, a former Secret Service agent who has been hiding since a moral dilemma caused him to fall from grace. His ex-girlfriend, Katherine Brunt (Katee Sackhoff), now works as the leader of a government sect and has a serious situation on her hands. A hacker known as the Ghost has a very powerful “weapon” that can disrupt the operations of Brunt’s organization. Desperate to diffuse this situation, Brunt calls upon her ex to assist with apprehending the Ghost and her hacking device.

Lucas is tasked with following the Ghost on a flight and must capture the assailant and the device. However, the flight they are on has several assassins on board looking to take out Lucas and the Ghost. The result is an insane plane flight full of insane violence, making Lucas regret his agreement with his former lover.

I had an absolute blast with this movie. Though the story and plot are relatively simple, the mixture of crazy action, gore, and humor made the film all the more entertaining. Written by Brooks McLaren and D.J. Cotrona, and directed by James Madigan, Fight or Flight is a ludicrous movie that is guaranteed to make its audiences devour a massive bucket of popcorn.

Despite its insanity, the earnestness of the cast is what really sells this flick. Josh Hartnett is exceptional in his performance as Lucas Reyes. He does a fantastic job of realizing his character, and all of the baggage one in his situation would have. At the same time, he brings a sly charm to his character, who seems to be familiar with some messed-up situations. I also enjoyed the acting of Charithra Chandran, who portrays a flight attendant who works with Lucas on his mission. Katee Sackhoff also gives an outstanding performance as Katherine Brunt, a determined and no-nonsense agent who is willing to do whatever is necessary to accomplish her mission.

The violence and action in this movie are a mixture of insanity and absurdity, but that is what makes it so enjoyable. If this is not your brand of movie, then I would pass on Fight or Flight. However, if this is your jam, check out this movie at a matinee screening at your local theater. It is an absolute riot.
