ACTION SCI-FI SHORT PRODUCED IN AUSTIN PREMIERES AT THE SEATTLE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Austin based filmmaking team Mario James Pena (Writer/Director) and Dana Archip (Producer) are premiering their latest short film THE BOOK OF JOE at the world renowned Seattle International Film Festival.

Austin, TX – May 2013 –   Last year, Mario James Pena and Dana Archip raised over $5,000 from family, friends and film enthusiasts utilizing the popular online crowd funding platform Kickstarter. After an extensive period of post-production, the VFX heavy film will be included in the “WTF!” shorts program on May 24th, 2013 at the Seattle International Film Festival. THE BOOK OF JOE is an “R- Rated” action sci-fi short that pits Joe, an everyday man from South Texas, against Death, an Angel, and even Jesus himself in an apocalyptic battle for the future of Earth. But everything is not as it seems and only Joe can see through the ruse.

The team’s most recent filmmaking award was at the 2010 Fantastic Fest for “Cherry Pie” the winner of the annual bumper competition. In addition to the production of the film, the team spent most of the year cultivating a following via Facebook, sharing behind the scenes photos and videos while the post-production phase continued. THE BOOK OF JOE team will continue to keep everyone posted on their festival travels and sneak peeks to the film. To view the trailer, visit www.5000films.com
