Based on the true story of survival, a young couple’s (Tami (Shailene Woodley) and Richard (Sam Claflin) chance encounter leads them first to love, and then on the adventure of a lifetime as they face one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in recorded history (IMDB).
This film offers up exactly what you might expect. Two people head out on a long journey across the ocean, get caught in a hurricane and mayhem ensues. I am sure shooting a film on the open seas cannot be an easy task. The hurricane special effects are extremely well done. In my opinion Woodley is becoming an excellent actor. I enjoyed her role in the Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant trilogy and she does an even better acting job in this film. I look forward to seeing more of her work in the future.
This film is entertaining but too long because I found myself wondering on a couple of occasions when they were going to get to the point. For that fact, I cannot recommend seeing this film on the big screen. I would wait to rent it or catch it on cable.
