Review: DARK PHOENIX

Rating: 4 (Out of 5 Reels)

Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) begins to develop incredible powers that corrupt and turn her into a Dark Phoenix. Now the X-Men will have to decide if the life of a team member is worth more than all the people living in the world (IMDB).

Turner is definitely made a name for herself. First, and most notably by her role in the HBO series Game of Thrones and how as a principal actor in the X-Men series. I don’t doubt we will be seeing more of her into the future.

There have been twelve X-Men films to date and I have seen them all. Some were very good and some definitely not. The ongoing issue the X-Men face is trying to be accepted by the normal human population. The ever pressing issue in this film is the evolution of Jean because she comes into contact with an enormous amount of energy and we then see how she deals with the newfound power.

This film is entertaining and the visual effects, as expected, are spectacular. I am a science fiction junkie and will always enjoy these types of films. I am continually awestruck as to what we can accomplish visually in films today and am very thankful for the advancements. This film should be seen on the big screen to give the special effects justice. Although, I would recommend a matinee to save some money.
