Review: HUSTLERS

Inspired by the viral New York Magazine article, Hustlers follows a crew of savvy former strip club employees, Ramona (Jennifer Lopez), Destiny (Constance Wu), Mercedes (Kiki Palmer), and Annabelle (Lili Reinhart), who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients (IMDB).

This film is well made and acted. Their costumes are fantastic and the women are beautiful which is to be expected in their line of work. Lopez obviously took this role seriously because her strip club routines are stunning. I guess all of those years touring helped her prepare for this role physically. Ramona is different because she knows how to play the game to get money from the rich Wall Street clients that frequent the strip club. She is not only stunningly beautiful but smart as well which is a potent combination. However, greed and heartlessness lead people down an ever changing path.

The main problem I have with this film is its length because at two hours it is hard to keep the audience engaged. I knew where the plot-line was going and wanted to get there sooner. Sure, it is entertaining to see these characters grow in their new business venture but after a while I was thinking enough is enough.
