Review: JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK

By Renee’ Collins

Rating: 2.5 (Out of 5 Reels)

Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) must uncover the truth behind a major government conspiracy in order to clear his name. On the run as a fugitive from the law, Reacher uncovers a potential secret from his past that could change his life forever (IMDB).

Even though this is only the second installment in this franchise there is absolutely nothing new to see here. Sure, this film is extremely well made and decently acted but it is becoming routine just like the Bourne Identity series of films. Even with all of the repetitiveness Hollywood keeps making these films for one simple reason, we movie goers keep paying to see them. As long as that happens they will keep making the same films over and over again. This film critic is not immune but there are limits.

For the most part this film is well written except for a few crucial places that seem a bit ridiculous. Since Cruise produced this film as well I am sure no expense was spared which accounts for the overall look and feel of this film. The problem it is a well-oiled story even with Cruise in the title role, not that his acting would make any real difference in this movie reviewers opinion.

Paying full price to see this film cannot be recommended. Catch it as a matinee or rather wait until it comes out on cable.
