Review: LONDON HAS FALLEN

Rating: 4 (Out of 5 Reels)

In London for the Prime Minister’s funeral, Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) discovers a plot to assassinate all the attending world leaders (IMDB).

Most will think this is just another film in a long line of the repetitive plotlines about an evil Middle Eastern warlord who tries to get revenge against the west. Not unlike its predecessor Olympus Has Fallen what we have here is a well written script, thoughtful action sequences and some actual funny one liner’s that make it watchable.

The returning supporting actors Morgan Freeman as Vice President Trumboll, Angella Bassett as Lynne Jacobs and Colin Salmon as Chief Hazard again add to the effectiveness of this film. Watching the seemingly “bullet proof” Banning (Butler) and President Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart) try to fight their way out of a bad situation is enjoyable because their characters are well written and are strong willed which pulls the audience into the action and gets them invested in their plight.  Add to that the extremely detailed scene choreography and overall visual look of this film and we are more than likely looking at another blockbuster film for this team.
