Review: STORKS

By Liz Lopez

Rating: C+

Storks is the new animated comedy feature film that includes what the birds used to do back in the day and what they have since been doing when that industry was shuttered. Instead of delivering babies, they deliver consumer packages. While it is not the best animated comedy film this year, it is still entertaining for families to view.

Junior (voiced by Andy Samberg), used to take to the skies to deliver wee ones in miniature capsules, but not for quite a while as that is just a memory. As an employee of Cornerstore.com, he is about to get a promotion, but has to do one deed that he does not relish.

Young Nate (Anton Starkman), wants a brother, but his parents, voiced by Jennifer Aniston and Ty Burrell who work in a home based business don’t have plans for a baby brother. The rest of the story goes from there, with the child making a connection with the stork world.

Junior’s boss is voiced by Kelsey Grammer and he is cast perfectly for the role of a hard ball, no nonsense sort and wants Tulip (Katie Crown), the sole human at the company- Gone. Fortunately for her, she has Junior who has a soft spot for her, as well as another older bird, voiced by Danny Trejo, who does an excellent job voicing his character.

Other cast are Anton Starkman, Stephan Kramer Glickman, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele among others.

Storks is written and directed by Nicholas Stoller, with Doug Sweetland as co-director.

MPAA Rating: PG. Running time: 100 MIN.
