Review: THE NOVEMBER MAN

Rating: 3.5 (Out of 5 Reels)

An ex-CIA operative is brought back in on a very personal mission and finds himself pitted against his former pupil in a deadly game involving high level CIA officials and the Russian president-elect (IMDB).

Pierce Brosnan (Devereaux) is best known for his role as 007 in several James Bond films.  Here we get to see him kicking butt and taking names again as a retired CIA agent.  Others will remember Brosnan before he made it big from the 1980’s television series Remington Steele.  Olga Kurylenko (Alice) is also no stranger to high action octane films.  It is interesting that they have one thing in common; both have starred in Bond films.  Brosnan portrayed Bond in four films and Kurylenko an infamous Bond girl opposite Daniel Craig.

The November Man is well made and acted but at two hours it takes a long time to setup the plot before things kick into high gear.  Not surprisingly these types of films require the viewer to suspend belief because it would seemingly impossible for someone who just crashed their car into a wall to be able to get out and run away to continue pursuit.  Although there are some minor continuity problems The November Man overall is entertaining and a fun ride.  Brosnan brings the action yet again despite being “seasoned” at sixty-one.
