The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people, and their home (IMDB).
Warcraft is a film based on the extremely popular video game series. Those who have never played the games, including this film reviewer, will enjoy discovering this new world and all its characters. It is hard to argue that no expense was spared in making of this film because of the vivid visual effects along with the action of the real actors. The visual effects of the guardian called Medivh (Ben Foster) are particularly entertaining. He can conjure spells that produce a bright blue light that emits from his eyes and body to fight his foes. Many will recognize Travis Fimmel who portrays Anduin Lothar, one of the king’s best fighters, from his role on The Vikings on the History Channel.
Fans of the fantasy science fiction genre will enjoy this film. Those who are not familiar with the game will definitely enjoy it because it draws the viewer into a realm of new characters, races and ideals. This film is sure to make a lot of money and should garner a sequel film for sure.
