Before she was Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained warrior. When a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, she leaves home to fight a war to end all wars, discovering her full powers and true destiny (IMDB).
I was actually looking forward to this reinvention of Wonder Woman franchise because not only did the trailer make it look entertaining but also every time I used to think about Wonder Woman I would think of the television series in the mid-seventies with Linda Carter. Now I will primarily think of Gadot because she is the perfect choice for this role.
This film is visually stunning; the writing is well done and the acting is great in no small measure because of the writing. The writers walked a fine line between reality and fantasy in this film. Sure, it is difficult enough to believe in a secluded island of Amazonian women but when you bring that element out into the “real world” during World War I, the juxtaposition is not only jolting but also entertaining and funny at times.
Children of all ages will love this film and I look forward to the next installment. It is definitely worth seeing on the big screen.
