ZACH Theatre’s production of The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show, part of ZACH ‘s Moody Foundation Family Series, is created by Jonathan Rockefeller and based on Eric Carle’s books. The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show stars both an adult and student cast of puppeteers playing at The Kleberg at ZACH through March 8, 2020, under the direction of Education and School Shows Coordinator Shannon Fox.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar and his menagerie of animal friends have arrived at ZACH! This production is very family friendly and highly entertaining for both adults and children. The children I saw in attendance were very enthralled with the cast and puppets, and they recited words from their favorite Eric Carle classics like Brown Bear, Brown Bear, 10 Little Rubber Ducks, and The Very Lonely Firefly. Each story is brought to life by an array of faithfully recreated puppets that are enchanting and engaging with the talented cast that breathed life into each character. There was plenty of excitement as each story and puppet was introduced.
The adult cast includes Chase Brewer and Jessica O’Brien. The student cast includes Chloe Van De Graaf, Wilkes Goodner, Sloane Johnson, and Jaxie Watts, with Emma Gullion as Swing.
The run time for the show is 40 minutes with no intermission. The age recommendation for the show is 12 months and up. It does require sitting in the theater setting for the duration. The cast must have access to the various stairs during the production as they enter and exit with the puppets.
The Kleberg at ZACH is located at 1421 W. Riverside Drive. Tickets are $19 (Youth) and $27 (Adult) and are available at the ZACH box office – (512) 476-0541, x1; zachtheatre.org
